A very original premise and story. A girl from Hoboken sets out in 1927 to take the ferry and go to NYC to find her favorite actress now playing on Broadway. She is about 12 years old. Her adventure takes many years and it also is complicated because she is deaf. Her story is filmed in black and white.
A young boy from the mid west takes money from his mother’s cookie jar and takes the bus to NYC to find his father. This is in the 1970’s and is filmed in color. He was on the telephone during an electrical storm and became deafwhen lightning struck.
The movie is how these two lives are intermingled. There are many ups and downs and although it takes awhile to get cooking, it is worth the wait. Sweet gentle film.
