Probably will be in the running for movie of the year. Story of post WW2 in Mississippi for some African American field workers. Jim Crow is alive and well and that can mean trouble at any time. Story begins before the War and shows the character of the lead as he goes to War and is treated respectfully in Europe where he falls in love and has a child, who is born shortly after he returns to Mississippi.
And he returns to prejudice and no respect. It is tough to stuff everything you are back inside and listen to ignorants who spout their racism. The dark side of America emerges and he is nearly hung. Very tense and emotional and well done. There have been a lot of movies recently showing the conditions which Black folks were forced to live under and this one is no exception. Disturbing and informative. White folks should hang their head in shame.
