First time director Russell Harbough has a keen eye. Simple story. Dad, the patriarch dies. Everyone else lives, or tries to. The theme is grief and when it gets contaminated with anger or selfishness it can be really ugly. Mom played by Andie Mc Dowell is terrific. She tries to move on but the sons, in their own way just make it worse. It is difficult to watch. But to the director’s credit , it’s what a movie should do, make you feel. Make you respond. You just want those sons to stop. Or be more mature with their pain, but maybe that’s another movie. This one is what it is, a painful depiction of grief.
